Enertropic
- a word coined by Gordon in 1997 means energy movement in
response to a stimulus. It is the combination of two
words. Energy and tropism. Tropism means 'turning in
response' and is many times used in relation to plants such as
heliotropic which is a movement in response to the sun. A
heliotrope, like the sunflower, changes its position
throughout the day in relation to the sun's movement. |
Enertropic Therapy (or ET) is a type of neuromuscular therapy that is a fast and effective way of releasing pain and stress in the body.
One of the keys of using Enertropic therapy is the clients willingness to participate in the process. This is generally not a passive massage technique and clients are asked to perform movements that are needed for changes to occur in the musculature. You may be asked to lift, turn or extend your arm for example to relieve shoulder pain.
Enertropic therapy differs from some reflex systems that it requires the use of two or more specific points to be held at the same time while the client performs the stretching movements.
One of the basic tenants of Enertropic therapy is that the system of points are locations in the musculature to increase the movement of electrical conduction through the connective tissue. A tight muscle or one in spasm has little
The body is electrical as we know by the use of EEG's and EKG's. Using the electrical potential in the connective tissue to create an electrical flow in the muscles as well as This creates an environment for a healthful circulation of life force which encourages homeostasis in the body. Enertropic Therapy is exceptionally good for relieving pain, increasing range of motion and releases muscle spasm.
